What are you going to do in 2013? (By @iyonah)

As the close of the year approaches lets take a moment to reflect on our own personal goals, achievements, failures and aspirations. Sometimes I have to stop and ask myself what kind of life are you living? What is beneficial for your livelihood and well being? Be it in the moment or hindsight, honest answers to certain questions provoke me to change. Now, I don’t know who is going to read this, but I do know the answers to these questions can maybe influence you to do something different, the time is now. Not yesterday, or 2013, part of active living is being in the moment.

So consider an answer to the questions below and take some action.

Are you going to keep working at that job, you can’t stand, making that salary you are worth more than OR are you going to sleep less, grind more and create an opportunity?

Are you going to keep bashing the people who place bedazzled pieces and stitched names on plain Hanes clothing items or will you focus on creating something of your own to generate some income?

Are you going to keep saying you have ideas, or will you be doing something to capitalize off of them?

Are you going to keep working that overtime cause the job pays well or will you be looking to transition to a line of work that appreciates and uses your God giving talents instead?

Are you going to keep saving and investing or will you be splurging and yoloing till the death of it?

Are you going to keep partying and living carefree or will you be doing something to giveback, uplift or impact your community?

Are you going to keep being an Instagram model or will you actually go pay to get some headshots and a portfolio put together?

Are you going to keep buying cheap weave that stinks or are you going to get the nigga you laid up with to get you some good hair?

Are you going to understand you basic, and do something to change it or are you going to just enjoy it and stop trying to hide it?

Are you going to fail that college math class or work to pass it and finish your degree this coming summer?

Are you going to change that major your parents want you to have and follow your true passion or will they continue to dictate your life?

Are you going to remain complacent or are you going to strive for greatness? Are you going to keep lying and being sloppy with your heauxs or are you going to keep them in line and have less drama and aggravation?

Are you going to keep being a heaux without reaping any benefits?

Are you going to stop getting so many abortions, and maybe start using better contraceptives?

Are you going to stop calling heauxs and just accept that the nigga going to keep cheating, or are you going to leave and be through with him?

Are you going to keep living married or will you ask for her hand in marriage? Are you going to keep e-stalking or are you going to build a bridge and walk over it?

Are you going to stop manipulating the person you created a child with, and move on or do you plan to keep using your child as a pawn?

Are you going to start paying that child support, so you don’t feel like you have the law on your back?

Are you going to start building your credit, so you can stop renting? Are you going to be more organized and efficient, or will you continue to live life hectic?

Are you going to keep gaining weight or are you going to incorporate exercise and better eating habits into your life?

Are you going to make that move out of state that you’ve been scared to in the past or will you live life with that ‘what if’ cloud looming over you?

Are you going to want accolades without hard work or are you going to use some determination and skill to master and excel?

Are you going to stop complaining about your life on social networking sites, long enough to go live it?

I could go on and on with these questions, but I am sure you get my drift. Life IS short, but what you do during the time that you are here truly matters. Be it personal or professional, there is always room for growth and opportunity to change, as well as a way to find balance. Everybody doesn’t have a hustlers’ spirit, but all of us can change how we living if only in one area to have some peace and prosperity. Don’t be stagnant, get up, get out there and go to work on it.

What’s the point of living this life, if you aren’t trying to grow in it?
